Iran may allow oil tankers through Strait of Hormuz trading in Chinese yuan Iran is considering allowing a limited number of oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on the condition that the oil cargo is traded in Chinese yuan, CNN reported, quoting a senior Iranian official. The official said Tehran is working on a new plan to manage tanker traffic through the strategic waterway. Most international oil is traded in US dollars, though sanctioned Russian oil has increasingly been sold in roubles or yuan as China pushes to expand the use of its currency in global energy markets.

By Jasper Ward WASHINGTON, March 13 (Reuters) - A top United Nations humanitarian official on Friday called for humanitarian aid to be allowed to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz amid the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. The comments made by Tom Fletcher, the U.N. under-secretary-generalfor humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, comes as Iran threatens to close the strait, which is considered a key trade route.
Analysts estimate about 125 million barrels of Russian oil are currently being shipped
Closure of Strait of Hormuz could impact humanitarian operations, UN official warns Tom Fletcher, the United Nations undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, warned on Friday that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route in the Middle East, could have an "immense impact" on humanitarian operations. "When ships stop moving through that Strait, the consequences travel fast. Iran lets 2 India-flagged gas tankers sail through Strait of Hormuz: insiders South China Morning Post
Two gas tankers sail to India through Strait of Hormuz Iran has allowed two Indian-flagged liquefied petroleum gas carriers to sail through the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported, citing sources with direct knowledge of the matter. The incident is a rare exception, as the Iranian blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has prevented more than 1,000 cargo ships, mainly oil and gas tankers, from transiting the key maritime passage, disrupting global energy supplies. The Indian-flagged LPG tanker Shivalik crossed the strait under escort from the Indian Navy, two of the sources said, and the second vessel, Nanda Devi, was expected to clear in the next few hours.
