European stocks slide as Israeli-US war rattle markets European stock markets dropped to their lowest level in more than two months on Monday as the Israel-US war on Iran pushed oil prices sharply higher and fuelled fresh inflation concerns. The pan-European STOXX index extended losses for a third straight session, falling 2.34 percent to 585.08 points by 8:10 GMT. Markets have been under sustained pressure since the conflict escalated. The benchmark index lost 5.5 percent last week, marking its worst weekly performance in nearly a year. Energy markets have reacted strongly to the widening war. Oil prices have surged by more than 25 percent, climbing to just below $120 a barrel amid fears that the regional war could disrupt shipping routes and global supply chains in the Middle East for a prolonged period.
