OSLO, March 11 (Reuters) - Norwegian police said on Wednesday they had apprehended three suspects following Sunday's bombing at the U.S. embassy in Oslo. The powerful early morning blast from an improvised explosive device (IED) damaged the entrance to the embassy's consular section but caused no injuries, Norwegian authorities have said. "They are suspected of a terror bombing," Police Attorney Christian Hatlo told reporters.

US President Donald Trump would "welcome" Iran's participation at the upcoming World Cup in North America, despite the ongoing Middle East war, the White House said on Wednesday. The war, triggered by US-Israeli strikes on February 28, has thrown into doubt Iran's participation at this summer's men's football World Cup, jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. The US administration was confirming an Instagram post by FIFA chief Gianni Infantino earlier in the day.

Iraq shoots down drones near Baghdad airport Four drones were shot down near Baghdad International Airport, Iraq’s state news agency reported.  A US State Department official said a drone struck a US Embassy operations centre at the airport overnight.
