UAE arrests 10 for posting conflict videos on social media The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has arrested 10 people of different nationalities for posting real and “fake” videos on social media showing the country under attack, according to the state news agency WAM. Authorities said the videos included clips of air defence systems being deployed and alleged projectile strikes. The public prosecutor said publishing such material, “whether real or fabricated”, creates confusion and harms public security while giving “hostile media” content to undermine confidence in the government. Those charged face at least one year in prison and a fine of 100,000 dirhams ($27,224), WAM reported.

Report: US Air Force planes damaged in Saudi Arabia Five US Air Force refuelling aircraft were damaged in recent days while on the ground at an airbase in Saudi Arabia, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials. The report said the planes were damaged in an Iranian attack, though it did not specify when the incident occurred. US Central Command declined to comment on the report.

Iran may allow oil tankers through Strait of Hormuz trading in Chinese yuan Iran is considering allowing a limited number of oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on the condition that the oil cargo is traded in Chinese yuan, CNN reported, quoting a senior Iranian official.  The official said Tehran is working on a new plan to manage tanker traffic through the strategic waterway. Most international oil is traded in US dollars, though sanctioned Russian oil has increasingly been sold in roubles or yuan as China pushes to expand the use of its currency in global energy markets.
