In a post on X, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described the measures as “absurd”, “immoral” and “utterly unlawful”. Baghaei said the sanctions were an attempt to punish Iran for exercising its right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter against the US and Israel during their war on Iran.
