In a statement issued on Saturday, the movement said it “condemns the American-Zionist aggression against Iran, which violates international law, and affirms that the interest of the Islamic nation and the region lies in immediately halting this war.” The group called for diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and urged governments across the region to cooperate in preventing further escalation. At the same time, Hamas urged restraint from Tehran in how the war spreads beyond Iran’s borders. Darwish said Hamas was confident the new leader would guide Iran through a critical moment for the region. “We affirm our confidence in your wisdom and ability to steer the ship of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic during this sensitive circumstance, in preserving the course of the Islamic Revolution and achieving victory over the enemies of Islam and Muslims,” the statement added. Backing of Palestinian cause The movement also reaffirmed its expectation that Iran would continue backing Palestinians. “We are reassured that you will continue to support our Palestinian people, their just cause, and their valiant resistance, in all forms of support and backing, as the Islamic Republic has always done throughout the past decades,” Darwish said. The war between Israel and Iran began on February 28 when Israel and the United States launched a war on Iran that killed senior Iranian officials, including the country’s supreme leader.
