In a post on X on Wednesday, von der Leyen said the bloc had already delivered 40 tonnes of supplies and plans to organise further humanitarian flights, expressing solidarity with Lebanon and welcoming the decision to ban all Hezbollah military activities. The EU leader did not refer to Israel's oslaught on Lebanon and did not criticise Israel or the US for their war.

Maersk halts operations at Oman’s Port of Salalah after incident Shipping giant Maersk said it has suspended all operations at the Port of Salalah in Oman following an incident near the facility, according to a company statement on Wednesday. The Danish shipping company said activities at the port have been paused “until further notice” due to an ongoing incident near the general cargo terminal. Maersk did not provide further details about the nature of the incident.
Iran are due to play all three of their group games at this summer’s finals in the United States.
